FINAL DESIGN: POSTER

Typography for the poster

As You can see the main issue I had with this poster was that the image of the Lucy took up most of the space which left minimal space for the title, by line and review. So, I was reduced to using the left hand side of the poster to get everything across. The fonts that I used were FB Agency/ Bank Gothic once I had sorted out the fonts the spacing of the text was the issue. Because of the background I had to make sure the writing was visible that is why I used the font colour light yellow so that it stand out. The title 'Lucy' is in the middle because it separates the byline and review comment I did this because the attraction because if I put the byline and review comment together then the writing would become unclear and the title of the film would not really be the focus.

The image for the Poster

The film poster I decided to do was called 'LUCY'.In the beginning I had an idea just to put the image of Lucy as the background and then have the title embedded into the background image. However looking at other film posters that had been made for Lucy it looked very similar, also because of the background image I was unsure whether the title would even stand and I was having difficulty looking for a font that was thick enough to stand due to these limitations I decided to do another idea. Finally I decided to use an image of her face but I only showed one side of her face and used an image of the galaxy since the film is a sci-fi film. Using Photoshop tools such as the magic wand and airbrushing I was able to embed the both images well.

Final Design: SECOND BOOK COVER

Even though I made this book cover I still chose the initial book cover compared to this one.

Second Book cover : TYPOGRAPHY

I decided to do a Second Book cover because I wanted to see if I could do anything different with another image. The image that I randomly picked did not need any changes done so I left image and focused on the typography and font. Because the background was quite bright it was just a close up of flowers:
1. I thought the writing should be in italics or should be presented as a girl's handwriting, joined up pretty 2. I needed to use neutral colour like black or white because they would not fade into the background In doing so, I found it very difficult to find the right font was looking for the closet font I found was this:
The problem I found with the font was that it was too thick and bold and I started to reconsider the kind of font I wanted to use. But the font for the Author was the one that I liked so I decided to use it for the title instead. Then I changed the Author's font and colour so that it could stand out more.
In the end I decided to use these two fonts, it was just the placing the of the words now so instead of aligning them down the centre line I decided that I would align the Author's name to the left vertically. As for the title I decided that I would place it off the centre but somehow connect the title and the Authors name using the 'of' and 'the'. I did this because I though it would look very interesting and different compared to the other Book cover.

Final Design: BOOK COVER

The lettering on the book cover

When I first decided what Font to use I thought of something that would stand out and look appealing especially as I had applied the opacity to the background. The font I used was impact Label from the website DAFONT. Once the font had been done it was now about the placing of the image and at first I was played around with the words trying to put them in different positions because I did not like it when it was all positioned down the centre. So I felt like because the words of the title were 'Broken arm inside the sleeve' I Thought that 1. I had to show some part of the person in the image with the bag 2. The title should be defragmented Also with the Author name, I thought that it should be very simple but bold so that it is visible but it should not take precedence of the book cover. The only aspect that I tried to play with, in terms of the Author name was the First letter of the first name and surname and trying to make the other letters smaller.

The Background Image

The first image with the car I decided to change that Idea because I didn't want to continue with that one so I went back on the website and chose this image.
I decided that due to the the Title of the book cover was 'Broken Arm inside the sleeve'I decided that the picture should only show a certain amount of the the background and focus on the girl and her bag. So I First cropped some of the image and then lowered the opacity.
However, when I added the writing I still had second thoughts about increasing the opacity but for some reason I like the first one.
